For Pien Barendregt, founder of Pien Studios, the philosophy grew out of a love for tactile, unlikely materials — from netted fruit bags to thrifted textiles — shaping an Amsterdam-based knitwear studio built entirely around slow, handcrafted design and a commitment to working only with what could be reclaimed and reused.

Semaine What’s important to you right now?

P.B. Balancing life with work! I am proud and thankful that I could turn my passion into my work, but this can also be a downfall when work then takes over everything you do and you lose the love for your passion. I get a lot of inspiration out of the small things in life, and therefore I need to protect both worlds to enjoy both<3

Semaine If you were an object what would you be?

P.B. A chair, preferably one with a mixture of wood and textile.

Semaine Where would you like to be right now?

P.B. Near the ocean, somewhere warm, somewhere simple with good food. I feel like the past months were very much focussed on work, and me and my team have done a lot. Now it's time to zoom out again, reflect, do nothing and get room in my head and heart for new inspiration.

"I lived here for 2,5 years and this neighborhood is a bit of a hidden one in Amsterdam, but maybe one of the most beautiful ones. The architecture is mostly Amsterdamse Schoolstijl (Organic forms: Buildings often feature flowing lines, rounded corners, and an almost fairy-tale-like appearance. Distinctive brickwork: Extensive use of brick in a wide variety of colors, textures, and patterns. Expressive elements: Unique window and door frames, S-shaped curves, ornamental ironwork, and sculptural details. Social housing: Widely applied in working-class neighborhoods, schools, and public buildings for ordinary citizens.). This neighborhood even has a museum in the street where I lived; Museum t Schip - and I highly recommend it!
