Read the Q&A
With skincare dominating advertising and filling our feeds and our minds, it has become harder to distinguish products that are genuinely selling skin health versus a surface level promise. With more than 25 years of hands-on experience and training as an International CIDESCO Diplomat and Educator, Athena’s approach reflects something increasingly rare in modern skincare: working in alignment with the skin’s own ability to restore itself. Monastery facials are seamless and never aggressive, shaped into a highly curated experience based on the skin’s condition rather than the fixed categories of "skin type" we've grown used to. At the center of it all are Monastery’s in-house formulations - crafted as an homage to nature’s offerings and designed to support the work happening in the treatment room and at home.

Semaine What’s important to you right now?
A.H This sounds cliché, but authenticity. It’s easy to get persuaded, sidetracked, or influenced by outside noise, especially while I’m still building my brand. I’m constantly checking in with myself, making sure I’m aligned, and keeping my head down so I don’t get pulled off course. I notice the issue with authenticity, or rather with being confident in your choices, with parenting too. Like, don’t listen to the other parents. Do what you know is best, you don’t want their children, you want your own child. Confidence in your own choices matters.
Semaine If you were an object, what would you be?
A.H A white vintage tee with maybe a few tiny little stains, but the perfect fit.

Semaine Describe your taste in one word?
A.H Innate.
Semaine Where would you like to be right now?
A.H Cuddling on the couch with my boys, any couch in any place in the world would do.

“I realized with my acne that my skin looked it’s best when I was doing the least, so I made a cleanser to mimic that.”
