Most upholstered furniture is essentially furniture under stress — fabric stretched, stapled, and pulled taut over rigid frames. A question of control, and one Danish designer Lærke Ryom decided to refuse entirely.

The edge banding in particular is worth pausing on: twill weave is a technique drawn from the world of clothing and home textiles, not furniture. It's a quiet reminder that the most enduring objects borrow from unexpected places.
