Éléonore Grignon
The designer giving forgotten textiles a second life.

Q&A

Meet Eléonore Grignon Working only with sourced and salvaged fabrics, she shapes unique objects for the home, rooted in the seasons, the land and the hand.

Raised in a family of farmers, weavers and beekeepers, Eléonore Grignon brings a deep connection to nature and craftsmanship to her work. From vintage textiles to flaxseed-filled heat packs, she creates everyday objects that honour the materials. Based in Brittany, her practice is guided by a simple philosophy: take the time to make, less but better.

Semaine What’s important to you right now?
E.G What matters most to me right now is my healing journey - after the hardest year of my life - and the people I love. I want to take care of my friendships and of the earth, each at my own level. I try to cultivate as much beauty, joy and peace as I can, to stay sane in these difficult times, while remaining aware of the world we live in and doing my part to help make it a gentler, more caring place. That means honoring my limits and my needs along the way. In daily life, it translates into moving my body every day and spending time in nature, into the forest, a few times a week. And I wish to keep building Atelier Colza in a way that is sustainable, intentional and conscious.

Semaine If you were an object what would you be?
E.G At the moment, I’d be a flaxseed heat pack: something to welcome in the autumn and bring warmth, care and comfort. Or a bed, an invitation to rest and be looked after. Or a piece of sea glass, smoothed by the waves and picked up on a beach in Brittany.

Semaine Describe your taste in one word.
E.G Intentional.

Semaine Where would you like to be right now?
E.G In the present moment, even if it sounds cheesy.
But if I had to pick a place, I’d be in my dream house in the countryside, surrounded by my closest friends, with tea, coffee and cake around the fireplace. Or eating fish and chips with my best friend Matthew in Brighton, by the sea, with the sound of the waves and the gulls around us.

Semaine What’s important to you right now?
E.G Saying yes to things that feel scary

My Semaine

My ceramic mug: “My favorite mug, a gift from my boyfriend, bought in the Creuse two years ago on holiday. It comes with me for every coffee, herbal tea and matcha break at the studio.”

"The discovery, in the heart of winter, of a poetic, soulful and sustainable cuisine of rare precision, where a deep commitment to preserving ingredients and honouring the seasons finds its expression on the plate."

"Every Sunday, I go there to do the week’s grocery shopping: fresh, organic produces, the best einkorn bread I’ve ever eaten, and the best onigiri in Rennes, made by Ayako in her food truck."

"I especially recommend the spa, called “Les Bains Celtiques”. This place is really special to my heart: it’s where I met Gwenn of L’Arbre Qui Marche, who was then a reflexologist at Maison Rollinger. I recommend booking a reflexology session with Gwenn, followed by an hour at the spa, facing the sea. The energy of this place is so so special."
La Ferme du Vent

Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes, Brittany

"Founded by my friends Céline & Cécile, this queer place is unique and precious, with beauty in every corner of the château. It combines, with real talent, a guesthouse and a residency for artists and chefs. A few years ago, I had the chance to do a writing-research residency."
Le Château de la Haute Borde

Rilly-sur-Loire, Loire

"A place that’s special to my heart and body. I go there to clear my mind, to exercise, and to feel as if I’m back in amniotic fluid, a kind of reset. The pool is a listed historic monument, decorated with mosaics by the famous Italian mosaicists, the Odorico family."

"I discovered this Breton island last year with my dear friend Alexia. It’s a perfect place to reconnect with the elements: foraging for wild Breton seaweed (mindfully), taking long hikes and swimming. I recommend going off-season."

"I highly recommend their brunch: the best I've had so far, full of discoveries (pickles, fermentation, and more) and the most generous too. It's a made-to-order buckwheat galette service, with the filling of your choice, all with a breathtaking view of the sea. I haven't had dinner there yet, but I've heard glowing things about it."

"A warm place, designed with care and joy, just steps from the sea — to eat, stay the night and have breakfast. I hold a precious memory of the dinner, which was beautifully balanced and delicate, a delight for both the eyes and the palate: seasonal, local ingredients elevated to their finest."

"A house of care founded by my friends Gwenn and Paolo. It’s a meaningful, tasteful place, restorative and regenerating, with deep attention to care and detail. I used to cook there over the past few years (yes, I’m also a cook!)."
